Tax Extenders Bill Passed
March 14th, 2011 by Jodi ReedThe Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010 (the “tax extenders bill”) passed Friday, December 17, 2010. The bill extends the IRS Section 25c tax credit for energy efficient retrofits to existing homes. The tax credit for installed insulation materials will be ten percent of the material cost up to $500.

Given spray foam insulation’s energy efficiency and sound insulating properties, many people building new homes are turning to spray foam over other types of insulation. But what about people that would like to update their existing home?
“People come up to us at home shows and ask if we can retrofit their homes with spray foam insulation,” said Rock-Crete Foam Insulators’ Bobby Housley. “We tell them that it’s easier than they think. We can come out and spray the underside of the roof deck and the results will be very noticeable.”
